Hello and welcome to all of you. Today, we begin our journey of discovering the governorate of Matrouh, focusing on its beaches and everything it has to offer. We will start by talking about its most famous beaches.




1-Aqir Al-Khadim Beach ❤

       "This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches that can be seen in terms of its view and water, as it features turquoise waters. It is said that the name of the location comes from a tragic legend passed down by the local residents over the years. It is said that a long time ago, there was a maid working for one of the princes, and one day she committed suicide by throwing herself from the top of the rocks in this place. Thus, the site was named 'Aqr al-Khadim'."


2-Um al-Rakhm Beach.❤

     Um al-Rakhm Beach is considered one of the famous beaches in Egypt. It is said that the reason for its name goes back to the village of "Zawiyat Um al-Rakhm," which is rich in many historical buildings, including Pharaonic and Greek ones. The village was named "Um al-Rakhm" because it is home to many "rakhm" birds (Egyptian vultures)



3-Cleopatra Beach❤

     Cleopatra Beach is named after mysterious stories about Queen Cleopatra of Egypt,On this beach, there is a rock formation enclosed on both sides and from above, with seawater flowing through the other sides, refreshed with every wave. It is known as "Cleopatra's Bath," where the queen, who was keen on maintaining her beauty, used to bathe daily in the warm seawater. Even today, some boys and girls dare to cross the slippery rocks and waves to reach the queen’s "bath." From there, you realize that her guards and servants used to spy on her from behind the sand dunes and rocky elevations.



4-Agiba Beach❤

    The wonder lies not in the statues themselves, but in the gradual slope of the rocks extending into the sea, which decrease in size as you go deeper along the coast, giving the appearance of rocky caves—not in a barren desert, but in the heart of the coast. In addition to the crystal-clear, sparkling waters and soft white sands, Agiba Beach is distinguished by its clear blue waters with varying shades, its golden sands, and its pure air, which helps evoke a sense of relaxation and calm. Whether you’re lying in front of the beach for a retreat or strolling along the shore, climbing some rocks to view the sea from above, capturing unique photos, or exploring the caves and rocky hills, Agiba Beach offers a truly peaceful escape.



5-Al-Awam Beach❤

    The locals share a well-known story about the reason for naming this beach. It is said that during the reign of King Fuad I, the locals found the body of a man floating in the sea at the same beach, drowned. Despite this, fish did not eat his body, and the salty seawater did not change his features. As a result, the locals considered him a man of miracles and a saintly figure, and thus named the beach "Al-Awam." He was buried in a small tomb.As for Al-Awam Beach, it is distinguished by its clear blue waters, the calmness of the area, and its soft white sands. It also offers water games and a Corniche promenade in the Al-Awam area for enjoying the natural scenery and fresh air.



6-Shati' al-Gharam (The Beach of Love)❤❤

    "O residents of Matrouh, a mermaid in your sea... People come and go, but I am in love with your neighborhood," with these words, the late singer Laila Murad sang in one of the scenes from the film *Shati' al-Gharam* (The Beach of Love), where she sat on a rock that later came to be known as "Sakhrat al-Gharam" (Rock of Love), and the beach was named after the film.



7-Rommel Beach❤

    Rommel Beach is believed to have been named after the German commander Rommel, who hid in a trench on the island during the outbreak of World War II. This trench was later turned into a museum showcasing the belongings of the commander and the soldiers of the war, eventually becoming a famous tourist attraction in Matrouh.





   In conclusion, after talking about some of the famous beaches, it's worth noting that these are not all the beaches, as Matrouh has many more stunning and beautiful ones. You can visit the city all year round. In winter, the weather is wonderful, with fresh air and light rain. The weather is also better in spring, with a slight chill in the air and a clear, stunning sky blending with the color of the sea and water. In summer, the weather is great and humid due to its location.
